Karlene and Erin (Girls Academy staff) have helped me to keep on my feet. I’ve learnt how important education is and my goal is to graduate.”
Program Manager Karlene Middleton said: “Since starting in my role I have seen our girls develop in all areas – their confidence, self-esteem, and personal growth. The Girls Academy program is definitely having a positive impact on our girls and hearing them speak positively about their schooling and graduating is what makes my role so rewarding.”
Narromine High School Principal Philip Rufus said the Girls Academy “has provided our girls with an opportunity where they can dream to succeed”.
“The Girls Academy mentors have a significant impact. For Narromine High School girls this is an opportunity to help them become proud women who can connect with our community. There has been a significant change in our girls’ behaviour, attitude and self-respect. Our girls are settled, happier and more resilient to handle external pressures and problems that they face on a daily basis. The relationships that have developed with mentors and community leaders has contributed to their ongoing development and this will have a lifelong impact,” he said.
Thank you to all of our guests for helping us celebrate this momentous occasion.
