Two Girls Academies for Bundaberg Students
Wednesday 23rd May was a momentous day for the Girls Academy with the official launch of two new Girls Academies: Bundaberg Girls Academy and Bundaberg North Girls Academy.
Our CEO Ricky Grace delivered great speeches, and there was an amazing turnout at both ceremonies with special guests: David Batt, MP, Member for Bundaberg; Stephen Bennett, MP, Member for Burnett; John Bortolussi, Wade Romeyn and Murray Clifford from Cummins South Pacific – one of our biggest supporters; representatives from MAX Solutions; and Ross Zelow – Assistant Regional Director -School Performance at the Department of Education and Training in Queensland.
The Girls Academy started running our program at Bundaberg and Bundaberg North State High Schools in Term 1 this year and already there has been a big impact. Almost 120 students are enrolled across the two Academies, and in Term 1 this year Bundaberg North Girls Academy students achieved an average school attendance rate of more than 94% – an amazing result!
